Threat and Error Management for Business Aviation

Threat and Error Management for Business Aviation is a joint project of the Flight Safety Foundation Corporate Advisory Committee, and the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Safety Committee. The project’s goal is to educate business aviation professionals in the practical application of threat and error management principles.

The project structure consists of a steering team and several development teams. Its initial objective is to develop a portable, interactive classroom course for a broad cross-section of business aviation professionals, using content specifically tailored to business aviation. Proposed topics are threat and error management (TEM) principles, TEM and crew resource management, and using TEM as part of a safety management system risk mitigation strategy. Expert advisors from academia, government, and industry, have also been enlisted to review the course materials for content and pedagogical efficacy.
