Flight Safety Foundation For Outstanding Service is presented to the Capt. Akrivos Tsolakis
For his notable achievements during more than half a century on behalf of aviation safety. Capt. Tsolakis’s commitment to safety initiatives began in the Hellenic Air Force, where he was director of the Aviation Safety Division, and continued with Olympic Airways. His 25 years with Olympic included service as a captain of airliners, including the Boeing 747, and as the airline’s manager, aviation and ground safety. In that role he established important modern practices including crew resource management, line-oriented flight training, a flight safety committee and a hazard-reporting system. During his career, Capt. Tsolakis has delivered more than 150 presentations about aspects of aviation safety in 45 international workshops and seminars, including the FSF International Air Safety Seminar. He has organized many international aviation safety conferences in Athens. He is chairman of the Hellenic Air Accident Investigation & Aviation Safety Board and a member of the Group of Experts of the European Union for Aviation Safety. He serves as chairman of Flight Safety Foundation–South Eastern Europe. For Flight Safety Foundation, he is a member of the Board of Governors and the European Advisory Committee. Flight Safety Foundation is pleased to recognize Capt. Akrivos Tsolakis for his multi-faceted work in promoting best practices in risk reduction.
