For his contributions to the design of navigation charts, electronic databases and training materials that have set a world standard.

After 36 years with Jeppesen, Terpstra retired from his position as senior vice president, international affairs, and flight safety officer. He was responsible for the design of Jeppesen charts and databases, and oversaw the production of Jeppesen’s flight information services. The author and editor of many Jeppesen training materials, he currently serves as a consultant to Jeppesen.

Terpstra has been chairman or a member of many industry committees designed to standardize, harmonize and improve navigation charts and databases. He is a member of the Flight Safety Foundation International Advisory Committee.

Flight Safety Foundation is pleased to recognize James E. Terpstra for advancing the state of cockpit navigation products.
