For a lifetime of achievement in aviation safety.

Beginning as a test pilot, Pinet accumulated 6,000 flight hours on a hundred aircraft types, including the Concorde. In 1971, he joined newly established Airbus, where he created and led Aeroformation, the company’s training facility, later called Airbus Training. He devoted much of his time to safety-related initiatives.

A founding member of Flight Safety Foundation’s Icarus Committee, he has also served on the FSF board of governors. He continues to support flight safety initiatives of the French Académie de l’Air et de l’Espace, of which he is a former president, and has provided input to the International Civil Aviation Organization’s Global Aviation Safety Roadmap.

Flight Safety Foundation and the award’s sponsor, Aviation Week & Space Technology, are pleased to recognize Jean Pinet for his continual contributions to aviation safety.
