Flight Safety Foundation Presented to Stanley R. Mohler, M.D., M.A. One of the world’s leading authorities on aerospace medicine. During almost 40 years, he has published 250 articles in numerous trade magazines and professional journals (including some 80 in Flight Safety Foundation publications or seminar proceedings) that have profoundly enhanced the aviation community’s understanding of medical issues affecting flight safety. Dr. Mohler — an airline transport pilot and certified flight instructor — has written on an extremely wide variety of subjects. Remarkably, he has maintained a prolific output while holding important positions including director, Civil Aeromedical Research Institute, Office of Aviation Medicine, U.S. Federal Aviation Agency, and chief, Aeromedical Applications Division, Office of Aviation Medicine, U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. He is currently Director of Aerospace Medicine at Wright State University School of Medicine. Flight Safety Foundation and the award’s sponsor, IHS TransPort Data Solutions, are pleased to recognize Dr. Stanley R. Mohler for his extraordinary service and published work that have made scientific findings in aerospace medicine more accessible to crewmembers and aviation medical examiners alike.
