Flight Safety Foundation For Outstanding Service is presented to Capt. Dan Maurino
For his leadership in developing and implementing protection for safety information. Capt. Maurino, coordinator of the Flight Safety and Human Factors Program of the International Civil Aviation Organization, was instrumental in an effort that culminated in the approval of an amendment to Annex 13, Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation. The amendment establishes guidelines to avoid the inappropriate use of critical safety information. Maintaining confidentiality of information related to accidents or incidents encourages its reporting and discussion, which helps in understanding causal factors and reducing their likelihood of recurrence. Flight Safety Foundation is pleased to recognize Capt. Dan Maurino for his outstanding work on behalf of information confidentiality as a safety enhancement.
