Capt. Yun-Ling Lee
China Airlines

For nearly 50 years of dedicated service to the improvement of aviation safety, as a military pilot and as an airline pilot and manager.

Capt. Lee, chairman of China Airlines, has been a tireless advocate of practical methods to prevent aircraft accidents. He has served with distinction in many positions affecting airline operations, from line flying to management of safety, training and flight operations. Former inspector general for China Airlines and former president and CEO of Far Eastern Air Transport Corp., he helped to create working environments in the companies that encourage personal responsibility and foster strong safety cultures.

His active participation in international aviation safety activities with the Foundation, the International Air Transport Association, the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration has resulted in valuable exchanges of information.

Capt. Lee has written many articles and has lectured at universities on aviation safety topics. His advocacy of national support for aviation safety in Taiwan and his encouragement of excellence in individual work are a model for other aviation executives.
