For making aviation safety a priority over political and competitive considerations.

Mr. Kolisnyk, a 9,000-hour pilot, has been first deputy chairman of the State Aviation Safety Oversight Service since October 2004. He has flown the Antonov An-2 as captain, piloted the Mil Mi-2 and Yakovlev Yak-42, and served as director general of Donbass–Eastern Airlines and director general of the “International Airport Donetsk” Enterprise.

Mr. Kolisnyk demonstrated his personal commitment to safety by making critical airworthiness information from the Antonov Design Bureau available to States, operators and the public. This unprecedented action made an immediate contribution to aviation safety worldwide and provided a positive example for other manufacturers and States to follow.

His policy exemplified the importance of transparency and information exchange in international aviation.

Flight Safety Foundation is pleased to recognize Mr. Kolisnyk for his contribution to aviation safety.
