For Outstanding Service is presented to

Dmitry Kiva
General Designer, Antonov Design Bureau

For making aviation safety a priority over political and competitive considerations.

Mr. Kiva was the lead designer of the Antonov An-28 and deputy lead designer of the Antonov An-2, Antonov An-3 and Antonov An-14. He led the testing and certification of numerous Antonov airplanes, is the author of more than 100 publications and holds 18 patents and design rights. He is Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Academician of the Ukraine Engineering Academy and Honored Scientist of the Ukraine.

Mr. Kiva demonstrated his personal commitment to safety by making critical airworthiness information from the Antonov Design Bureau available to States, operators and the public.  This unprecedented action made an immediate contribution to aviation safety worldwide and provided a positive example for other manufacturers and States to follow.

His policy exemplified the importance of transparency and information exchange in international aviation.

Flight Safety Foundation is pleased to recognize Mr. Kiva for his contribution to aviation safety.
