Flight Safety Foundation presented to Thomas Imrich For his outstanding contributions to aviation safety through detailed initiation, development and implementation of enhanced flight operational procedures and related flight crew training requirements. Mr. Imrich has provided distinguished technical leadership for several innovations and concepts in equipment and procedural guidance material that have improved airline safety throughout the world. Successful initiatives directly attributable to his dedication and hard work include the development and integration of Category III takeoff-and-landing procedures, implementation of airborne collision avoidance systems, development of updated crew-qualification criteria for type rating and training in modern aircraft types, and implementation of Required Navigation Performance procedures for advanced-technology aircraft. These initiatives and others for which Mr. Imrich has provided technical expertise, guidance and leadership have improved the safety and reliability of the air transportation system. Many of his innovative contributions have been made with great personal sacrifice above and beyond the normal scope of his responsibilities. The results of his leadership and his timeless efforts for excellence have established him as an invaluable asset to the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and the aviation community.
